Accord LX Stereo Installation
WNG
2/2005
I mercifully replaced the mediocre factory stereo and speakers. The new system consists of the following new and surplus equipment from my inventory:
HEAD UNIT: Kenwood KDC-MP225. A 2004 model MP3/WMA, Sirius-ready, CD deck.
FRONT STAGE: Cambridge Soundworks CS5W 5.25 in. 2-way component speakers, powered by a Rockford Fosgate Series1 2060x with 80 Hz high-pass input.
REAR STAGE: Kicker 6.5 in. FreeAir woofers, powered by Kenwood head unit (22w RMS).
SUBWOOFERS: Kicker Comp. 8 in. 4-ohm subwoofers in acoustic suspension configuration.
Enclosures are molded thermoplastic, originally meant as an option for a particular SUV or minivan.
Power is provided by a JBL GTS-180x high current amplifier, with its internal active crossover set for 80 Hz low-pass.
CABLES: 4 and 8 GA OFC power cabling and Esoteric Audio speaker wire.
RCA interconnects were standard fare…but the system is noise and whine free. It’s all about the attention to detail of the installation!
ALARM: Clifford Concept 20
